I use all kinds of mixed media for these. There is no particular rhyme or reason, just whatever works for the look that I need. Ignore the flash spots, I've never claimed to be a photographer.

Notice the thermostat. It's in the cargo net. The font of the hut lifts to expose the puppet show. Black light accent the flourescent acrylics.

HOK urathanes & Auto Air Acrylics on melomane(whatever that is) I use it to make t-shirt boards. This is the only artwork I've painted for myself in 10 years. Kind of an experiment of mixed medium.

The original sign had 2 doctors names on it. One of them moved on ,so I patched a piece of white vinyl over the painted lettering and replaced it with a single vinyl name.

This mural gives new meaning to being in the "Dog House" at Linn High school. I'd say if he were to get through the wall he be about, oh I don't know, 20,000 pounds. Intimidation and school spirit is the theme for most sports oriented murals. Especially ones painted in gyms or at the football field. More suttle themes belong in lobbies, halls and libraries.

This is the third mural I've painted for this school system. Return business is always the best! We decided to take a different approach at the High School. A bit more menacing rather than an all out attack. The Junior High hosts all the basketball games and the High School hosts all the Football and Volley games. So it was only fair to continue the "Art of Intimidation" at the there as well.

After doing the lockers in the High School the superintendent wanted some artwork on the Jr. High Lockers. Well they were in such bad shape that the basecoating process ran to close to the first day of school. So during Christmas break we decided intead of cleaning out the lockers we would paint a wall mural in the gym which is where all the High School Conference Games are played. This way everyone in the school could enjoy the new artwork and generate some school spirit. I used HOK urathanes and topcoated it with an exterior acrylic varnish. Strange combo I know but it works just fine in most applications.

This mural is in the same family room as the mermaid mural. It went through several design changes and re-works due to the changes overall interior set-up and furnishings. Each change, no matter how slight or extreme could have stood on its own, however the final outcome was exactly what the homeowner wanted. The overall feel of this space is enchanting because the wall to wall murals combined with the expance of the picture windows, on the opposite wall, overlooking the resort lake cove that this house sits on. A absolutely wonderful space for a family gathering.
